She has a degree in Biology and Chemistry. She has a master's degree in Biology (Mycology) from the Universidad de los Andes and a master's degree in Government and Public Policy from the Universidad Externado de Colombia. She has been a researcher and university professor. Currently, she is the General Director of the SINCHI Institute. During her tenure she has managed to consolidate scientific research topics related, among others, to inventories of flora, fauna and microbiota; utilization of the Amazon region's biodiversity offer through the generation of knowledge, innovation and technology transfer for local communities; generation of information for the country in terms of the Amazon; knowledge of the borders, and the necessary aspects that must be taken into account for the design and implementation of public policies that contribute to the sustainable development and conservation of the Amazon region. Recently, she was elected president of the Bioamazonia Network - Research and Innovation Institutes on Biodiversity, which brings together the main research institutes of the countries of the Amazon biome.
